An introduction to Tai Chi and Form 28 from the Wudang style. Classes meet Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30am-10:30am EST and Saturdays 10-11am EST. Purachase a monthly subscription before booking.
NOTE: New participants may join at the beginning of each seasonal series.
Schedule:
Mondays 9:30 AM EST
Thursdays 9:30 AM EST
Saturdays 10:00 AM EST (starting March 30th)
Class Format:
On Mondays and Thursdays we will spend much of the hour on Qi Gong and Tai Chi exercises and reserve a few minutes at the end to learn and practice a form at an individualized pace.
Check out the first nine movements of Wudang Tai Chi Chuan Form 28:
On Saturdays, we will use Qi Gong and Tai Chi exercises to warm up but dedicate more of the class time to learning Form 28.
You will need a bit of cleared space to practice in - about 8' x 10' is ideal.
Special Guests:
I'll be inviting special guest teachers like Manny Miranda. You'll benefit from having another set of eyes on you, as well as the opportunity to learn from teachers with differing backgrounds.
Manny, for example, studied in the Shaolin style, which is a very important source of Tai Chi tradition.
Tai Chi has been long associated with the Daoist tradition as practiced at the temple on Wudang Mountain, yet many believe it was formed after a Buddhist monk's visit to the Shaolin temple in the sixth century.
